Mar Vista Family Center has been providing life changing services to entire families, from babies to the elderly, for over 40 years. MVFV is located on the West Side of LA near Mar Vista Gardens, the last federal housing project on the West Side, and provides services to the surrounding community and beyond. Almost all of the families we serve have incomes below the federal poverty line and many are first generation immigrants. MVFC utilizes a unique Shared Responsbility Model to provide tools for the entire community to enable members to take responsbility for creating the change they want to see in their lives and communities. MVFC has three core programs: Early Childhood Education, Youth Enrichment and Leadership, and Multi-Generational Community Programming. In connection with the Shared Responsibility Model, caregiver involvement and active participation is a cornerstone of the Early Childhood Education and Youth Enrichment and Leadership programs. The core programs include, among other services, our Baby & Me and Preschool education programs; By Youth For Youth with leadership training, STEAM education, and post-high school preparation programming; as well as a weekly food pantry, health and wellness activities like Zumba, and annual community events such as a Literacy Fair, Halloween Trick or Treating, and neighborhood clean-ups.
