Laura Newton works in Development at the American Cancer Society, specifically stewarding VIP stakeholders for Distinguished Events and Corporate Relations. She has a lifelong passion for supporting healthcare initiatives and delivery of safety services. Prior to entering the non-profit field, she oversaw the planning and staffing of medical teams for mass gatherings and live events in SoCal as the Operations Director for Emergency-1 Response, for clients such as the Academy Awards, West Hollywood Pride, Long Beach Marathon, etc. She also has 8 years of leadership experience in launching harm reduction departments and social impact initiatives for Insomniac Events, the festival subsidiary of Live Nation.
Laura studied Public Relations and Marketing at California State University, Long Beach where she revived the CSULB Sailing Team and served as President of PRSSA. Born and raised in Long Beach, she worked for many years coaching and directing youth sailing programs and her respect for the ocean also crosses over to marine conservation and SCUBA diving. She is an avid traveler and is eager to explore and appreciate international destinations and cultures once again.
