Jonathan currently serves as Regional Affairs Officer at the Southern California Association of Governments, the nation’s largest Metropolitan Planning Organization. Hughes received his undergraduate and graduate degrees at Azusa Pacific University and brings to SCAG a blended professional background of unique public and private sector experience, including public affairs, government relations, and higher education fund development. Jonathan works extensively with SCAG’s many and diverse community and government stakeholders on long-term transportation and housing needs. In his spare time you can find Hughes working on pro bono consulting projects on topics such as strategic planning, strengths-based thriving, and employee engagement. Jonathan enjoys connecting people to solutions and information and looks forward to “post-pandemic” life when we can do these sorts of programs in-person! Hughes is a former Commissioner in the City of La Habra and now resides in Fullerton. Jonathan serves on the advisory board of the Orange County Salvation Army as well as a local Boys & Girls Club. Outside work, Jonathan enjoys traveling, mixing cocktails, hiking, and connecting with people over food and drink.
