Gene Patricio is the Section Manager of Water System Operations’ Conveyance & Distribution (C&D) Desert Region for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. He is responsible for managing all operations and maintenance activities related to Metropolitan’s Desert Region, including the Colorado River Aqueduct. Over the past two years, Gene has managed the transformation of the Desert Region through the hiring of eight new managers representing a nearly 60% turnover in the Desert management team.

Gene has held various positions during his nearly 30 years with Metropolitan, including Control Systems Team Manager, Mechanical Team Manager, Unit Manager for the Apprenticeship and Technical Training Team, and Unit Manager of C&D’s Eastern Region.

Gene served in the U.S. Air Force and the California Air National Guard. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Management from the University of Redlands, and his Master of Public Administration degree from California State University, Northridge. Gene holds T2 and D4 water operator certifications.

Gene and his wife have three kids and two grandchildren, and during their free time they enjoy hiking, paddle boarding, kayaking, off-roading, and traveling.
