We are excited to welcome Tatiana Acosta to our board this year!
Tatiana is an alum of Leadership L.A. Class of 2021 and she works at AltaMed Health Services as a Major Gifts Officer, working on high-impact funded partnerships that bring resources and additional services to AltaMed Health Services’ patient population.
As one of our newest board members, we asked Tatiana to share more about her Leadership L.A. experience and why she decided to join the SCLN board.
Describe your experience with Leadership L.A. How has it impacted your leadership development?
Leadership LA gave me the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals and participate in cross-sector collaborative activities. My cohort was made up of amazing individuals who all contribute to Los Angeles’ growth and prosperity. Along with workshops covering different current issues facing Los Angeles, Leadership L.A.’s curriculum had us practice our problem solving and presenting information on our areas of expertise. The program allowed our lived experiences and professional backgrounds to serve as a lens through which we frame issues and solutions.
SCLN’s programs are radically inclusive and ensure to cover current topics facing the region. After building a leadership plan, I am more confident than ever in sharing my talents, listening and working with others, and being part of a larger vision that contributes to my communities.
What made you decide to join the SCLN Board? Do have any goals you would like to achieve as a new board member?
My service on the SCLN Board will be an extension of everything I did and learned in the Leadership LA program. I would like to be part of the organization’s evolution and growth, and find opportunities to help more individuals like me be part of the next cohort of leaders. I hope to advocate on behalf of the SCLN programs, help bring innovative ideas to grow the organization, and continue to encourage individuals from every walk of life to participate in SCLN’s programs.
What advice would you give to SCLN’s alumni and potential nonprofit board members?
Your expertise and participation makes you a necessity at the decision-making table. Always lean in to moments the provide you the opportunity to lead, and do so with self-awareness, compassion for others, and mindfulness to what is going on around you.
