Marketing for Good: Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley

SCLN in Action:  Marketing for Good: Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley

Angela Fentiman (Leadership LA 2011) might have a full-time job as the Director of External Affairs for the Valley Industry & Commerce Association, but she also serves as the Vice Chair of the marketing committee for the Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley.

Located in Canoga Park, the Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley provides after-school services to over 3,100 from children from 15 schools in the West Valley. 81% of these children come from families that live below the poverty line.  This year the Club is celebrating its 20th Anniversary. Approximately 150 children visit the Main Clubhouse in Canoga Park each day in addition to more than 550 children engaged in after-school activities at the Club’s five school sites. Fentiman says she’s also impressed with the ROI of her investment in the Club. “In 2010 the Club released a study, finding that each $1 invested in the Club was equal to more than $16 for the local economy.”

According to Fentiman, her fellow committee members “are always looking for more members if anyone is interested in an on-going volunteer role.”
