Leadership Fellowships

The Southern California Leadership Network's Fellowships offer unprecented access, unique relationships and unparalleled content to Southern California's civic leaders.

SCLN has equipped nearly 1,500 civic-minded thinkers with the community and regional knowledge necessary to address quality of life issues in Southern California.

The organization's premier Fellowships--California Connections, Leadership Southern California, Leadership L.A.,, and New American Leaders--are designed with three key components that are distinctive to our programs:

  1. Focused leadership skill development around the Civic Entrepreneurship Framework, 360 Leadership Style Assessment, Mindfulness, and Building Your Leadership Portfolio
  2. A comprehensive overview of the issues, including behind-the-scenes explorationthrough case studies. These public policy issues span:
    • Los Angeles City & County
    • Southern California region
    • California statewide
    • Global competitiveness & inclusion
  3. Dialogue among peers and experts

Recruiting efforts are aimed at ensuring that the diversity of the region is reflected fully in the composition of the classes, with special attention given to cultural, gender, age and professional diversity. Classes always include leaders from the ranks of private industry, government and the non-profit sector. The ideal candidate is a mid- to senior-level executive interested in taking on enhanced civic leadership roles.

Tuition costs vary between the Fellowships, and assistance in the form of partial scholarships is avaialable for qualified applicants who show a demonstrated need for financial aid. Alumni of SCLN's programs and applicants from Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce member organizations receive a 10 percent credit on tuition.

In addition to its signature Fellowships above, SCLN is also the official partner in Southern California for the American Marshall Memorial Fellowship, coordinated by the German Marshall Fund of the United States. Read more about the American Marshall Memorial Fellowship.
