Developing Regional Leaders

|
INNOVATION IN THE OC: University of California, Irvine professor Stephen Jenks gives Leadership Southern California 2009 Fellows a demonstration of HIPerWall (Highly Interactive Parallelized Display Wall) at the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology at UCI. The wall is a 200 megapixel display that allows researchers to see enormous data sets or photographs in extreme detail. Here, Professor Jenks shows a cross-section of a rat brain. A unique, experiential "master class" on Southern California in the company of talented, high-energy peers.
For 20 years, Leadership Southern California (LSC) has enrolled approximately 40 interviewed and selected mid- to senior-level executives in a 10-month leadership development program to explore our regon's assets and opportunities.
LSC embodies the values of regional stewardship, experiential learning and deep exposure to regional public policy issues across Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside and Ventura counties. Fellows also travel to Sacramento.
Recruiting efforts are aimed at ensuring that the diversity of the region is reflected fully in the composition of the class, with special attention given to cultural, gender, age and professional diversity. Classes include leaders from the ranks of private industry, government and the non-profit sector. Tuition cost of the program for 2010-2011 is $4,500 with a 10 percent credit for Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce member organizations.
