ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT
As a recent Leadership L.A. Alumni, what are key attributes that you have benefited from and applied towards your personal and professional life?

"My fellow alumnus will understand what I mean when I say since graduating from Leadership L.A. I've been striving for balance. Balancing professional goals, personal goals, and goals around being a leader in my community. The program opened my eyes to the possibilities of community leadership and gave me the knowledge and tools to make it happen in a way that balances all the priorities in my life."

Julie Lacouture , Mom Corps Los Angeles and Graduate, Leadership Los Angeles '11

ISSUES

California Connections 2012 dives into Greater Los Angeles, Inland Empire, and Orange County
Last month California Connections took an in-depth look at issues surrounding education, the economy and the entertainment industry in Los Angeles, Orange County and the Inland Empire. On Jan.25, Fellows participated in a round table discussion on diversity, immigrant integration and how civic leaders can come together to face all of the challenges. "Los Angeles is a laboratory of bringing people from all over the world," said Antonia Hernandez, president, California Community Foundation (pictured above to the left). "To be an American is to believe in democracy and an open society. It is a state of mind that encompasses everyone."Read more about the day on Twitter. View Photo Gallery.

Leadership Southern California 2012 crosses over to Orange County
Leadership Southern California had the opportunity to have a bird’s eye view on what is shaping Orange County at University of California, Irvine on Feb.10.  Fellows listened to a panel which included Hon. Beth Krom, Mayor Pro Tem, City of Irvine, Tim Shaw, Manager of External Affairs, Orange County Great Park Corporation, Michael Bishop, Senior Deputy Superintendent, Santa Ana Unified School District, and Marnie Primmer, Executive Director, Mobility 21. Panelists covered the regional politics, public works, and the tangible diversity which truly exists within Orange County. “There are over a hundred institutions of faith, a very multinational and international business profile here, with CEOs having professional relationships beyond Orange County”, said Hon. Beth Krom. Read more about the day on Twitter. View Photo Gallery.
